Tank007 E09 – 3 1/2stars

Summary

This torch is quite inexpensive. Not the brightest at it’s claimed specification. If we hadn’t compared the Tank007 E09 with other small torches in our Small Torches Group Test it would probably seem like good value. And perhaps is actually is, at the typical price it sells for.

A not unattractive little metal device, the Tank007 E09 is of some use as a torch in pitch black conditions.

Brightness

Looking at the photos below, it’s hard to imagine that this torch is genuinely a 120 lumens torch. It’s almost the least bright torch we’ve tested, even compared to other torches with a claimed lower brightness.

A not-too-wide spot with almost no flood, at least at this range. The front door to the house 15m away is visible.

Useful for

This is a low cost keyring torch. It’s of some use in very dark conditions as you can see from the test photos.

Notable features

With a fairly narrow spot, this little device makes the most of it’s limited brightness.

The Nitecore Tank007 E09 has 3 brightness levels:

  • High: 120 lumens for 1 hour
  • Med: 60 lumens for 3 hours
  • Low: 10 lumens for 20 hours

To turn on in it’s highest setting, twist the head anticlockwise. To access the other brightness levels, whilst turning it on, twist the head back & forth to cycle through all 3 brightness levels, stopping at the one you want.;

Design

Not unattractive, the Tank007 09 seems thoughtfully designed. The anti-roll nuts are a nice touch, and the knurling on both the head and main body aid turning it on and off.
